MMS Interworking Service meets the need for mobile operators to exchange international MMS messages; offering immediate access to many destinations without the hassle of setting up separate technical and commercial interconnect agreements. This service offers seamless interconnection between different mobile networks, even when this requires translating MMS protocol variations, and will take care of settling the termination fees between each different network. In most countries, interconnection between national mobile networks enabling the exchange of MMS messages has therefore been arranged by the mobile industry. On an international scale, this can be a daunting challenge for many operators, as negotiating and testing hundreds of bilateral MMS-interconnects would require valuable time and resources. MMS Interworking Service, as part of our Wholesale services, is intended to help operators meet this challenge.
(MMS) is a store and forward messaging service that allows mobile subscribers to exchange multimedia messages with other mobile subscribers. It can be seen as an evolution of SMS, with MMS supporting the transmission of additional media types such as text, picture, audio, video or certain combinations of them. MMS represents the service but also the message itself.
The concept of this service is based on the well known hub and spoke model, which means that the service allows access to multiple destinations and networks with only one single roaming relation. MMS is considered to be one of the most promising mass-market data services in the mobile market today. It provides customers with attractive features such as email/long text messaging, sounds, graphics and photo/video functionalities. More and more, mobile operators are marketing these services with increasing success. We offer MMS-IW internationally, towards more than a hundred destinations, directly or indirectly via other MMS hubs. We interconnect any new operator customer and running the necessary end-to-end testing.
