Home Country Direct (HCD) service enables customers traveling abroad to call the home country directly in a simple, convenient, and economical way. Customers abroad don’t pay for the calls, as all the phone calls are charged by the receiver. HCD provides a way to connect with no additional charges or subscription fees and without the need for using calling cards or foreign currency, the service is accessible from any ordinary fixed telephone. This service needs pre-arrangement and agreement between origination and receiving carriers to open the service or it can be established via transit/hubbing centers in the absence of direct interconnection.
Access to Home Country Direct (HCD) service is a reverse-billed, inbound calling service provided from Jordan Telecom to destination country and vice versa. HCD calls from Jordan Telecom will be translated by the Intelligent Network (IN) into an international routing number as indicated by terminating carrier, on a number by number basis, and directly routed to the specified International Service Carrier in the destination country.
The aim of the service is to provide abroad telecom companies’ customers with access to their home country, while traveling within the visited operator without paying for the call. It is also called reverse charge call (calling collect) telephone call in which the calling party wants to place a call at the called party's expense. This service allows one to call an operator in his home country, toll free and complete his call on a collect basis depending on your home company's policies. No coin deposit or smart card required in Jordan Telecom to call 1-8800 toll-free numbers.
